Day One
I begin with an acrylic yellow underpainting to which I'm adding oil.
This is the process in which I will lay in my midtones and light-midtones first,
darks next and lights third.
Let's see what happens.
There is no flash on my camera. The paint is mixed with my own medium
and very wet as I maneuver it across the canvas.

From my garden is the source, a photo taken by me.
Backlighting adds a glow that is appealing. My approach is the same as
if I were painting a watercolor.
The first stage of this painting took me two hours.
I do not know the name of this Dutch plant.
See my Two Tumbleweeds
blog for photos of it this spring.
